I was born and raised on a farm in Eastern South Dakota. Farming is something that I have always enjoyed doing, and growing up as a farmers son, I got plenty of opportunities to help.

I went to college at Minnesota State University - Moorhead where I majored in Mass Communications. My plan was that I was going to be a TV or radio broadcaster. But when I got done with college, I was sick of the news, and media, and had no desire to enter that field. It was then, that I knew that there was nothing else I would rather do than be in full time ministry. I was working with a youth group at the time, and really liked it. My communication skills came out when I had opportunities to speak to the kids, and spend time with them.

I then entered seminary at Lutheran Brethren Seminary in Fergus Falls, MN. I enjoyed my three years there where the Lord prepared my heart and mind for what was to come.

I now enjoy my time here in Arvada, and look forward to all that the Lord has for me here!

Mars Harper, Youth Leader

I’m Mars Harper, the Youth Leader at Community in Christ.  I know my name sounds strange, but it is really a family name.  Feel free to ask me about it, it is really a funny story.  I’m a Colorado native, and know way too much about Denver history.

I grew up not really knowing the Lord, but thankfully came to know Christ through His love.  I had many struggles to finding faith, but they are the things the Lord used to strengthen and increase my faith.  I’ve been the Youth Leader for three years now and am very excited by the ministries we have here in Arvada.

I have three beautiful children and am married to Mitzi, our pianist.  We love being a part of this church family.
